Confirmation Service
The Confirmation Service took place on December 6th 2015 at the Bures Church
Pat Bright, Janice Martin, Sue Standley, Iris Risby and Jamie Gibbons were confirmed by Bishop Martin and Sue Bird reaffirmed her baptism vows at the Deanery Confirmation service at Bures
It was attended by many of our congregation who came to support them as they affirmed their faith.
Commissioning and Recommissioning
The Commissioning and Recommissioning of Lay Elders described as "A ministry that belongs to us all" took place on Sunday October 18th 2015.
Our Lay Elders were commissioned by the Archdeacon David Jenkins at our 10 o'clock service.Two new elders were commissioned and seven re-commissioned to continue the work of ministry in the community.
The Archdeacon stressed the importance of the whole congregation noticing when people were lonely or needed a listening ear or practical help
Harvest Festival
Harvest Festival with Donations to the Storehouse
Harvest Festival and Back to Church Sunday on 27th September 2015 was a great success with donations being made to Storehouse.
After the service the congregation joined together for a bring and share lunch and thoroughly enjoyed their time together.
Prayer 48 - 12th / 14th June 2015
A Great Success
Prayer 48 was a great success with many children and adults visiting the church to attend the services or to sit and pray. Helen has written a letter about the weekend which can be found by selecting "Prayer 48" in our archive pages. Here are just some images of the weekend.
Communion Service
The Communion Service that took place on Sunday June 7th 2015 was presided by Bishop Martin Seeley.
The communion service on Sunday June 7th was presided by Bishop Martin Seeley. This was his first service in his new diocese and he also gave the sermon. Bishop Martin is now the 11th Bishop of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich.
His ordination as a Bishop took place on Ascension Day, Thursday 14 May 2015, during a service at Westminster Abbey that was attended by a congregation of more than 1,000 people. Bishop Martin said "I am thrilled to be coming to a diocese where the church is so engaged with the life of the whole community."
Coffee Mornings
The Coffee Morning on Saturday May 2nd 2015 was described as a good crowd
Irene Harding-Payne hosted the coffee morning on 2nd May 2015 there was a good crowd.
Jenny Baird had a plant stall which was a great success
and there was a queue of visitors waiting to climb the 121 steps to the top of the tower.
