2011 – A year in the life of St. Gregory’s Church Choir

It has been another very satisfying year for the choir in 2011 – we have again been delighted to welcome some occasional singers that have added alto and tenor parts for special choral contributions.

One particular highlight was the celebration of traditional Welsh hymns for the Sunday morning service on the 18th September where some of our most popular hymns were sung and the choir even attempted (with some success) one hymn completely in Welsh. Comments received afterwards confirm that the service was enjoyed by choir and congregation alike.

Again we are most grateful to Tom Cogan for choosing two special items of Christmas music and giving up his time to teach them to the choir. We were also able to perform a special piece written by a friend of mine, Gareth Price, to wish everyone a Happy Christmas immediately after the late communion on Christmas Eve.

We sincerely hope that the choir will continue to expand so that we can assist in making our services even more uplifting and we would welcome any altos, tenors or basses (only a very basic ability to read music is necessary) who would like to join us either on a regular or occasional basis.
